Greater Toronto Toy Trains

What We Do

Greater Toronto Toy Trains, or "GT3", is a small group of 3-rail O Gauge hobbyists who operate a unique model train display at special events in the Southern Ontario area. We are regulars at local train shows, have been on display yearly at the Roundhouse in Toronto, and our trains and scenery have also been featured in a commercial.

The diagram below is just one of our many display possibilities!

By sharing our pastime, we entertain viewers with a nostalgic glimpse of a hobby from a bygone era, but one that is certainly making a comeback. Our ultimate goal is to have fun, and hopefully encourage people to build and enjoy O guage trains and layouts at home. The GT3 display features small track plans that are easy to build and, at the same time, affordable, fun and engaging.

We sometimes have items for sale, including Lionel and Marx trains, track sets, transformers and accessories. Send us a note if you're looking for something or have trains to sell.

Greater Toronto Toy Trains members are knowledgeable in many aspects of the hobby, including layout design, product compatibility, and layout wiring. We run products by Lionel, K-Line, Marx, MTH and other companies. We love discussing our hobby with everyone and enjoy the opportunity to answer questions.

If you have an old train and want to know if it still runs, we will give it a test on our track. Vendors also know we will test their items on our tracks, so feel free to come by our display first before buying.

GT3 between Shows

Hobby time between shows is spent adding items to our collections, exploring track plans, scenery building, kitbashing, painting and weathering, a bit of electronic tinkering, updating our website and otherwise keeping in touch with the O Gauge community.

Video from our shows are edited and put on our YouTube channel.
